Here’s another version of the Shadow Stable Mate 6145. We
like to call it the 6145 2-Door. As a 6145, it’s
still a two horse straight load with dressing room, but for
those of you who like escape doors, this one has two escape
doors instead of the standard drop down feed windows.
In addition, the trailer shown here has what we like to call our
“All Around Windows” package - two windows in the nose, a large
19”x53” window in the dressing room wall, windows in the escape
doors and windows in the rear curtain doors. Those windows
are in addition to the standard 19”x53” window at each stall.
It’s hard to imagine a need for more light and ventilation than
this trailer provides. (Please note – this trailer is
equipped per our specifications. “6145 2-Door” is a name
we came up with to distinguish this from the standard model.)
If you read our writeup on the standard version of the 6145
(with the drop-down feed windows), you know it features an
aluminum frame and aluminum skin and, thanks to some clever
engineering, weighs under 2700 lbs. – you don’t need a large
vehicle to tow it safely. Interior height is 7’6”
and the horse area is about 10 feet long, so the 6145 can
accommodate good sized horses.

Shadows are good looking, well equipped and nicely finished.
The Stable Mate 6145 is no exception. The white surfaces make
for a clean, attractive exterior and a bright, inviting
interior. In the horse area, padded chest & butt bars are
standard, as are several tie rings. The stall divider &
post are removable in case you’d like to haul a load of hay or
an ATV, etc. The dressing room is large and well equipped.
Saddle racks, bridle hooks and a locking door with window are
all standard. And please note, Stable Mates have running
boards. Some manufacturers omit running boards so they
can quote a low price, but we work around enough trailers that
we can tell you running boards make a world of difference when
you’re getting in and out of a trailer.
What about that clever engineering we mentioned earlier?
First of all, the body width of the Stable Mate series is 6 feet.
Shadow figured that’s plenty to accommodate just about anything
short of a draft horse, so why make the trailer any wider than
necessary? The 6’ body width saves weight and cost and
reduces the frontal area of the trailer for easier towing.
Another clever aspect of Shadow’s Stable Mate series is the
Rumber®
kick panels. Rumber panels (not to be confused with Rumber
floor planks) are extremely tough, yet far lighter than
traditional wall mats. Look around the 6145’s structure
and you’ll see strong but light aluminum tubing and substantial
gussets reinforcing high stress areas.
At the rear, the Stable Mate 6145 straight load has an easy-lift
spring-assisted rear ramp, storm curtain doors and a loading
light. And please note that Shadow’s ramp mat is one of the
grippiest we’ve ever walked on. The 6145 also has
smooth-riding torsion axles, bright LED tail & marker lights and
much more as standard. The trailer pictured here has the
radial tire upgrade and optional spare tire (stored out of the
weather in the dressing room).
