Here’s the Shadow Stable Mate 612. It’s a 2H straight
load with saddle racks & bridle hooks up front, yet it’s lighter
and more compact than a dressing room trailer. This model
gets a lot of attention, for good reason. It’s roomy,
lightweight and very affordable. Shadow’s Stable Mate
models feature an aluminum frame & skin, so for those of you
looking for rust-resistance and light weight, the 612 has you
covered. That 612 model designation refers to 6’ body
width and 12’ body length, so it’s quite roomy.
Interior height is a generous 7’6”. Shadow has used
clever engineering in the 612 and other Stable Mate models to
keep both the weight and price down while keeping the quality
high. The 612 has an empty weight of approximately 2300
lbs., so you don’t need a large vehicle to tow it safely.

The Stable Mate 612 is good looking and well equipped. As
shown here, we’ve equipped it with only two options – “eyebrow”
windows in the front and a spare tire. Those front windows
complement the large sliding windows on both sides to provide
plenty of light and ventilation. The white surfaces make
for a bright, inviting interior and a clean, attractive
exterior. Padded chest & butt bars are standard and
feature fast-action hardware for safety and convenience.
The stall divider & post are removable in case you’d like to
haul a load of hay or an ATV, etc. Also standard is an
escape door with sliding window for even more light &
ventilation.
What about that clever engineering we mentioned earlier?
First of all, the body width of the Stable Mate series is 6
feet. Shadow figured that’s plenty to accommodate just
about anything short of a draft horse, so why make the trailer
any wider than necessary? The 6’ body width saves weight
and cost and reduces the frontal area of the trailer for easier
towing. Another clever aspect of Shadow’s Stablemate
series is the Rumber®
kick panels. Rumber panels (not to be confused with Rumber
floor planks) are extremely tough, yet lighter than traditional
wall mats. Look around the 612’s structure and you’ll see
strong but light aluminum tubing and substantial gussets
reinforcing high stress areas.

At the rear, the Stable Mate 612 straight load has an easy-lift
spring-assisted rear ramp with lockable latch, storm curtain
doors and a loading light. And please note that Shadow’s ramp
mat is one of the grippiest we’ve ever walked on. The 612 also
has smooth-riding torsion axles, bright LED tail & marker
lights, rubber floor mats, running boards (don’t take running
boards for granted!) and much more as standard.
