Here are a couple versions of the popular Shadow 723 Side Load
gooseneck. The 723 designation is based on the near 7' body
width and 23' floor length. We usually order our side loads a
foot or two longer than many you'll see - we'll explain why a
little farther down the page. Our TLT-spec side loads also
include a collection of convenience and safety features that
have proven very popular with our customers.
The 723 Side Load is popular because it's a versatile trailer in
an easy-to-handle size. Whereas many 3 horse trailers on the
market are slants (with relatively small stalls), the 723 has
two straight stalls plus a box. The
723 can accommodate 2 to 3 large horses in comfort. The top
photo shows an Extruded Skin version. The second photo shows
a Smooth Skin version. The exterior appearance is the main
difference between them. They are otherwise equipped with
nearly identical options. The Extruded trailer features
Shadow's 2008 graphics. (The Smooth Skin trailer shown
here sold recently, but it's a version we frequently stock.)
We typically order the 723 with a 19' horse area to allow 11'
for two warmblood-sized straight stalls plus an 8' box
stall. The added floor length also comes in handy as a
weather-protected tacking and grooming area. The 4' dressing
room pictured here brings the floor length to 23'. Standard
body width of the 723 is 6'9" and standard height is 7'6".
We've included interior shots so you can see many of the
features we describe here. Unfortunately, the camera
doesn't accurately convey the amount of space in the trailer,
but you can at least see what's where.
The 723 has side and rear ramps (the side ramp is a comfortable
5' wide) and the ramps feature a grippy woven mat covering
and effective spring assist. Both trailers shown here
have extra-tall ramps (48" height is standard; 54" height is
available at no additional cost). Sharp-eyed readers may have
noticed the optional lever-style ramp latches on the Extruded
Skin trailer. They're available as an option on most Shadow
models.
Let's take a moment to talk about access. An escape door across
from the side ramp is standard. The escape door is so wide that
it can accommodate a drop down feed door (and the drop down is
standard!). The standard escape door is a 3/4 style; we specify
the full-height door for greater ease of exit. We also usually
order an additional 3/4 escape door over the curb side fender to
allow easy access to the back stalls should an emergency occur
while on the road. And we order this model with yet another
door - a pass door between the horse area and dressing room.
It's easy to enter, exit and move about this trailer the way we
equip it.
The trailers shown here have optional windows near the stall
fronts for additional light & ventilation as well as several
2-way roof vents (some standard, some in the TLT package).
Also present is the optional removable stud divider panel below
the regular stall divider. The 30 gallon water tank under the
gooseneck has proven popular with our customers and was
specified on both trailers shown here. Shadow thoughtfully
locates the spigot low on the gooseneck gusset for convenient
filling of buckets.
The 723 is representative of Shadow's 700 Series models and
features an aluminum tube frame, aluminum skin and extruded
aluminum floor with integrated cross-members every 6 inches.
Also standard are lined & insulated ceiling (full length of
trailer), lined & insulated walls in the horse area, LED tail
and marker lights and much more. Shadow also offers a shorter,
non-dressing room version of this trailer that's great for
breeding and racing operations or for folks who do a lot of
trailering without an assistant (see our Shadow 719 write-up).
