This variant of the warmblood-sized
Windsor doesn't have an official name, so we'll call it the
Windsor XL, for eXtended Length. In
length, weight and price, the Windsor XL fits between the
standard Windsor and the Windsor with dressing room. To
create the XL, Kingston extended the Windsor approximately
18 inches and added 2 saddle racks and bridle hooks (plus
carpet on the front wall to keep the bridles quiet). The
standard Windsor has nearly 4-1/2 feet of space forward of
the breast bars and with the extra 18 inches, the Windsor XL
has nearly 6 feet forward - plenty of room for tack without
crowding the horses. The Windsor XL weighs approximately
2700 lbs., only 200 lbs. more than the standard Windsor.
In the best Kingston
tradition, the Windsor XL is loaded with standard features.
Everything you see on the pictured trailer is standard.
Something that may not be quite as obvious from the pictures
is Kingston's great reputation for safety and durability.
Kingstons feature robust contruction, they're built with
quality materials and they're assembled with care. It's not
unusual for a 20 year old (or older) Kingston to still be on
the road providing reliable service. For those of you who
want tack accommodation in the trailer, but don't want the
weight and cost of a dressing room trailer, the Windsor
XL might be the trailer for you.
