Royal TC tack compartment

The Brenderup Royal is available in two models:  TC and HB.  The TC features a tack compartment and the HB is a standard configuration 2 horse model without.   Both Royal models are the same size and can accommodate two horses to about 17 hands.

The TC is the most popular Royal model.  The TC's tack compartment includes two saddle racks and bridle hooks.  The tack compartment is about as tall as the chest bar, so there's still plenty of room for the horses to stretch their necks above it.  There's also about two feet of space between the chest bar and the TC's tack compartment, so there's room for a standard groom door on each side.  There's a separate door for access to the TC's tack compartment.  There are 3 windows in the front of the trailer, so even with the tack compartment, there's plenty of light and ventilation.  The Royal HB features a large groom door on each side as standard equipment as well as 3 windows.

To borrow a phrase from our ads, you don't need a truck to tow a Brenderup.  A significant feature of the Royal is that it has a loaded tongue weight of approximately 175 lbs.  That's loaded tongue weight, with horses aboard.  For comparison, a conventional two horse trailer will typically carry about 10-12% of its weight on the hitch, which usually works out to about 400 to 500 lbs.  The lighter tongue weight places less load on a vehicle's suspension, which helps the tow vehicle remain more level, maintaining proper steering geometry.  This is one of the reasons a Royal, and Brenderups in general, can be towed safely by smaller vehicles.  The low-drag shape requires less horsepower and also contributes to the easy-towing nature of the Royal.   We've towed Brenderups in quite gusty conditions, and they've always behaved beautifully.  It's partly due to the aerodynamic shape and partly due to the chassis design, which features toe-in and camber to aid stability.  Brenderups have been in production for over 50 years and have been on sale in the U.S. for over 20 years, so the design is well proven on roads all over the world.

As on the other 2 horse Brenderups, the Royal has a stall length of 7 feet, body width of 65 inches and interior height of approximately 7'4".  The Royal has 55 inches of stretch out space forward of the chest bar.  This is about midway between the Baron's 65 inches and the Prestige's 40 inches.  As with most Brenderups, Royal models feature 3 height adjustments on butt and chest bars, 5-way opening windows, galvanized kick panels, rubber torsion axles with shock absorbers (you won't find those on most trailers!), bright LED tail and marker lights and much more.  New for 2006, there are even tiebacks on the doors.

Royal models feature Solid Phenolic Core (SPC) walls and fiberglass roof.  SPC is extremely durable, and because the walls are about 1/2" thick, there's little heat or sound transmission.  All Brenderup models feature tough, low-maintenance galvanized steel frames and Inertia brakes.  Inertia brakes feature a clever and simple design that's been in use for quite some time.  Inertia brakes apply braking force in proportion to the load in the trailer and there's no need to adjust a brake controller in the vehicle.  In fact, you don't even need a brake controller!

We invite you to visit Traveled Lane to see our great selection of Brenderups.  We even offer test drives.
