Here's the Brenderup Prestige HB. The Prestige is a 2
horse model for horses to about 16 hands. Like
the Royal, the Prestige has a stall length of 7', height
of 7'4" and body width of 65 inches. The
Prestige measures 40 inches forward of the chest bar
(Royal has 55" and Baron has 65" forward).
If you've read some of our ads or model
descriptions, this next phrase may be familiar to
you - you don't need a truck to tow a
Brenderup. Unitized construction makes a
Brenderup light as well as strong, but something
that really sets a Brenderup apart is the loaded
tongue weight. The Prestige has a maximum
loaded tongue weight of about 170 lbs. and with two
1000 lb. horses, it will have a tongue weight
of approximately 150 lbs. For comparison, a
conventional two horse trailer will typically carry
about 400 to 500 lbs. on the hitch (about 10-12% of
the weight of trailer plus horses).
Brenderup trailers were developed in Europe, where
high fuel prices make large tow vehicles
impractical. Brenderup developed a design that
features light weight, light tongue weight, a
low-drag shape and a stability-enhancing chassis.
All of these factors combine to produce a trailer
that can be pulled safely by many smaller vehicles,
even in less-than-ideal conditions. With the
growing popularity of compact SUVs, trucks and
minivans in the U.S., the Brenderup design is a
great choice for horseowners in the States as well.
Brenderups can even be pulled by some cars.
Brenderups have been in production since the early
1950s and they've been on sale in the U.S. since the
early 1980s, so the design is well proven on roads
all over the world.
The Prestige comes with Brenderup's popular convenience
and safety features as standard
equipment: multi-position butt & chest bars, 5-way
opening windows, rubber torsion axles, radial tires,
shock absorbers (shock absorbers aren't even available
as options on most trailers) and bright LED tail and
marker lights. The Prestige also has Inertia brakes, a
well-proven mechanical braking system that automatically
applies braking force proportional to the load in the
trailer (and because they're mechanical brakes, no brake
controller is required!). The Prestige has one groom
door as standard. A second door is available as an
option. For 2007, Brenderup made Solid Phenolic (SPC)
walls standard on all models (previously standard only
on the Baron and Royal). The roof material is cool
white fiberglass.
