If you only have one horse, the Brenderup Solo could be the
trailer for you. The Solo has Brenderup's standard 7'4"
interior height and 7' stall length. There's a generous 40"
of room forward of the chest bar (the same as on the
Prestige). Old style one horse trailers were pretty narrow,
but the Solo has a roomy 51" stall width. In fact, the Solo
is only 14 inches narrower than Brenderup's 2 horse models.
The Solo's empty weight is approximately 1300 lbs. Fully
loaded, the Solo has a tongue weight of about 100 lbs, so it
can be pulled safely by many of today's small trucks,
compact SUVs and minivans. The aerodynamic shape and
stability-enhancing chassis design add to the ease and
comfort of pulling not only the Solo, but all Brenderups. Brenderups
have been in production since the early 1950s, so the design
is well proven on roads throughout the world.
Durable, low-maintenance Solid Phenolic Core (SPC) walls
have been standard on Baron and Royal models for several
years, and in 2007, Brenderup made SPC walls standard on all
models. The Solo's standard equipment list includes
Brenderup's comprehensive package of safety and convenience
features such as multi-position butt & chest bars, two 5-way
opening windows, galvanized kick panels, a large groom door,
rubber torsion axles (with shock absorbers!), high quality
radial tires (including a spare), bright, reliable LED
running lights and much more. The extra tall ramp (5' tall)
with gas spring assist provides a comfortable entry into the
trailer and if you look at the "ramp down" picture, you'll
see that the ramp mat is ribbed for good footing. The Solo
suspension provides a steady platform for loading, but as an
added convenience feature, Brenderup has equipped all
models with rear prop stands. If you have good loaders,
you'll probably rarely use the prop stands, but if you come
across a horse that's never loaded, it's nice to know the
prop stands are there if you need them.
The Solo features a rugged galvanized steel chassis as on
other Brenderup models and it also has Brenderup's
smooth-acting Inertia brakes. As you apply the brakes in
your tow vehicle, Inertia brakes automatically apply the
trailer brakes with force in proportion to the load in the
trailer. As you increase the load in the trailer, Inertia
brakes automatically (and smoothly) compensate with
additional braking force. And with Inertia brakes, you
don't need to install, set up or adjust a brake
controller in your tow vehicle.
Many manufacturers offer no single horse models,
but Brenderup offers a full range. The Solo is Brenderup's
most affordable one horse model, but if you have larger
horses or would like tack accommodation or even a dressing
room, check out the Baron One models - HB, TC & SL,
elsewhere in our Brenderup section.
Traveled Lane has been selling and servicing Brenderups
since 1996, so we know the product and can provide helpful
advice on suitable tow vehicles. We keep a nice selection
of Brenderups in stock and we even offer test drives. We
invite you to stop by and check them out!
