Thule Galvanized Trailers
and Off-Road Dump Carts. These versatile
trailers have been popular in Europe for quite
some time, so Thule decided to offer them in the
States. The lead picture shows a pair of 1205S
models. The second photo shows a model 1600
Off-Road dump cart.
If you're tired of
wrestling items up to a car top carrier, the
1205S may be the trailer for you. It's
larger than any car top
carrier we can think of and because
it's at ground level,
loading it is a snap! The 1205S is
lightweight, durable (galvanized structure!) and
easy to pull. The lockable aero lid is
standard, as is the drop down rear gate and 6
compact interior D-rings for securing cargo.
The lid has standard lift-assist struts and is
extremely easy to raise and lower.
The 1205 bed size
is approximately 3'10" x 6'10 and it has a
volume of approximately 47 cubic feet. That's
about 3-4 times the volume of popular car top
carriers and about 3-4 times the size of many
car trunks. The 1205 weighs less than 300 lbs.,
so the trailer itself places almost no load to
speak of on the tow vehicle. But it has a
payload of over 1350 lbs., so it can increase
your cargo-carrying capacity considerably.
And remember, the 1205S is
tucked nicely in the slipstream of your vehicle
rather than up on the roof, so there's
little drag and no top-heavy effect on
handling.
In addition to the
high quality galvanized structure, the
1205S features a smooth torsion ride axle and
radial tires as standard. (Trailer Trivia -
Some of you may have seen a Thule trailer
labeled as the Adventurer 1700. The 1205S is
the same trailer with a different decal or
two).
The newest item in
this What's New item is the
Thule 1600 Off-Road dump
cart, designed to
be pulled behind ATVs. The 1600 dump bed is
approximately 45" x 73" x 12". (It may look a
bit small in the picture, but it's not.) The
1600 has
an electric tilt mechanism
designed to be powered from an ATV electrical
system, electric brakes on one axle and a
payload capacity over 1000 lbs! The
1600 features a galvanized chassis and the dump
bed has extruded aluminum side panels. It's
great for yard work, hunting or camping trips or
jobs around a small farm.
